Duty motorman onboard a bulk carrier underway spotted five robbers armed with knives in the engine room. Alarm raised, SSAS activated and crew mustered. Hearing the alarm and seeing the crew's alertness the robbers escaped. The incident was reported to VTIS. A search was made. Nothing reported stolen.
